Xbox One X Performance Report and Results
From what we gather, the future Xbox One X made by Microsoft is going to be the most powerful gaming console we can have for now. However, we don’t know yet how well it will perform in 4K resolution, and many fans are curious about that. Recently, we got the chance to see an early detailed report about the performance benchmarks for the console. It doesn’t offer all the answers, but at least now we have a better idea about what it can do.
Performance Results
After having a look at the performance results, we saw that it’s quite hard for the games to run a 4K resolution at 60 FPS. Consequently, the graphically demanding games are going to use a more dynamic resolution or some checkboarding techniques in order to achieve some higher resolutions. This is what happens with the PlayStation 4 Pro. Keep in mind that not all games run native 4K resolution, and there are even fewer games that do that at 60 FPS.
What Games Did They Test-Out?
The report does not show exactly what games the developers used for testing the future console. However, with the details they provided, we believe they were: ReCore, Forza Motorsport 7, Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and Star Wars Battlefront, as well as other titles.
There were nine titles that were benchmarked, and from what it seems the 1080p games on Xbox One have a better result on the new hardware with a full 4K resolution. However, the 900p and 720p games do encounter a problem when they try to reach that performance. According to Microsoft, the rule of thumb is that games have to get 4 times the resolution, while simultaneously keeping the target performance. And this is reflected in the results included in the report.
