Windows 10 Safe Mode to Fix Common Errors On Your Computer

It is sometimes inevitable that your computer bumps into some errors due to malware or incompatible software installation, causing Windows 10 to stop working or send you to a freeze. Well, there are several ways to boot Windows 10 into Safe Mode and fix the errors causing this dilemma.

System Config Tool

Among the easiest ways to start Windows 10 into Safe Mode is via system configuration tool. In fact, this has been a popular tool, just by executing msconfig.exe.

  • You can launch this tool by pressing the combination of Windows + R keys from your keyboard. Write msconfig.exe to the open text filed, then press Enter.
  • The Cortana tool is also useful when opening system configuration tool. Just enter system configuration and then click System Configuration shortcut that would appear on the Best match list.
  • From the system config window, click the Boot tab and you will be redirected to the Boot options section. You can now choose Safe boot and click Enter. You would be required to reboot your computer so that the new settings would take effect. You have an option to Restart right away or to Exit without restarting.

Once it reboots, you would see the Safe Mode screen where you will not be able to use the Microsoft Edge browser, but the Internet Explorer. Then, you will be able to start fixing errors.

Shift + Restart Combo

Another method of getting your computer running in Safe Mode is with the use of the Shift + Restart combo. Just open the Start menu and click or tap the Power button.

  • If you do this, keep the Shift key pressed and click tap on Restart. You can now use the Shift + Restart combo from the Sign-In screen. So, click Power, then press and hold the Shift and the Restart button.
  • You can choose from a number of options, namely Continue, Troubleshoot, and Turn Off Your PC. You simply choose Troubleshoot option at that point.
  • Once reaching the Troubleshoot page, you can select from Reset this PC or go to Advanced options. Select the latter and click on the Startup Settings option.
  • From the list of options, choose Enable Safe Mode and click the Restart button at the lower right corner of the screen.
  • There are 3 options if you want to get into the Safe Mode option, namely the Safe Mode with Networking and the Safe Mode with Command Prompt. You can access the options by clicking F1-F9 and F10 for more options.

Using the Settings App For Accessing Recovery Options

From the Settings option, you can also go to Safe Mode. Just press Windows + I and go to the Update and Security section. You may notice from the left side of the Settings window the Recovery panel.

You have the option to get started with your work or you can click the Restart now button from the Advanced startup option. Once Windows 10 restarts, you need to follow a similar procedure by going to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
