Windows 10 is Microsoft’s latest computer operating system that is extremely popular and constantly updated. However, recent reports of users reveal that after the latest updates, the software developed major problems.
The first substantial update of Windows 10 was recently introduced by Microsoft.
Dubbing the May 2019 update, known as 1903, the new update adds an array of new functionalities that got Windows 10 users hyped.
Problems
The latest Windows update started a Reddit thread where some Windows 10 users complained about the May 2019 update provoking random reboots of their systems.
Here are quotes from some Redditors:
“Since 1903 my PC keeps randomly restarting. There’ll be a small freeze that lasts a couple of seconds, and then it restarts automatically.”
“Outside of this it’s perfectly normal, but I have no idea what is causing this. My computer sounds normal.
“What on earth is going on at Microsoft? It’s getting to the stage where I am seriously considering dumping my PC and getting a Mac!” – one furious user.
“Screen goes black, PC shuts down. PC restarts, and goes straight to Desktop. As though it were just restarting normally, were it not for the fact that it doesn’t wait for programmes to close before doing so. I don’t have a login or anything, and it doesn’t go to BIOS either.
“There’s no way to diagnose this as it is completely sudden and without warning. 100 percent a problem caused by a recent Windows patch.”
A user said that an error code (0x80073701) is a common sighting.
Cause
Unfortunately, at the moment it is unknown which devices are affected by the aforementioned problems, as it turns out that this is not a widespread issue.
Fixes
While Microsoft hasn’t yet released an official solution, one user suggests downloading the update and installing it as a standalone package rather than via Windows Update.
