Nokia Asha phones may no longer be made but those who still have the device are encouraged to get the latest update of WhatsApp for their phone. There’s a very good reason for doing so: to ensure your phone is installed with an app that has all the latest features, fixes, and security updates.

Microsoft bought the mobile device business of Nokia in 2013. Although the Asha was seen as a “bridging device”, it became a victim of the company’s cutbacks. Instead, the company has focused on producing Lumia and other Nokia-branded phones. In fact, the Nokia 1 – which is a low-end phone – was released early this year.

With WhatsApp ending support for the Nokia S40 by the end of this year, the models listed above are the other supported devices compatible with the S40.
WhatsApp has announced platforms they will no longer be supporting come a particular time. Support for the Nokia S40 will terminate on the 31st of December with others to follow in 2020. Those still on Android version 2.3.7 and older will no longer receive support from February 1, 2020, as will users of iPhone iOS 7 and older.
While you’re saving up to replace your Asha, make sure to get the most current WhatsApp version so your phone always has the newest updates and features. The last thing you want is to still have an old version when the updates stop coming.
