WhatsApp Update Brings New Text Customization Feature

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging apps in the world. Many users love it for its simplicity and multitude of options that if offers users. Some of these features include audio and video chat alongside text, as well as the sharing of various media across it such as images, videos or even audio clips. WhatsApp also has its own emoji menu that is the same across all platforms, which is another thing that users seem to appreciate about it.

However, the one thing that WhatsApp seemed to lack is text message customization. However, the latest WhatsApp update seems to finally change that for the better. Keep reading to find out what new text customization features come with the new WhatsApp update.

Bold & Italic Text Finally in WhatsApp

Here is how you could use bold, italic or strikethrough in the old WhatsApp.

• Italic – in order to activate this function, you just have to add an underscore (_) before and after the word or phrase or even sentence you want to display in italics.
• Bold – in order to activate this function, you need to add and asterisk (*) before and after the word, phrase or sentence you want to display in bold.
• Strikethrough – this is the more eccentric function of the bunch; in order to use it, add a tilde (~) before and after the phrase you want to change.

For example, if I want to bold the word ‘hello’, I will send the message on WhatsApp by writing it like *hello*. The asterisks will disappear and the text will be bolded instead. The same is true for the rest of these new functions.

Now, the new version has them added in a little menu in the customizable text toolbar. Yay!
