Nokia 8110 4G is running a successor of canceled Firefox OS, KaiOS. JioReliance phones are running the same operating system, and one thing extremely interesting about that is that these phones have Whatsapp support. HMD along with KaiOS announced last summer in 2018 that 8110 4G owners will be able to download Whatsapp on their phones. However, the first month of 2019 is ending, and that still did not happen. KaiOS was asked by a user of 8110 4G about this situation, and they responded that the Whatsapp support would be available for users outside of India, but they did not mention an exact date.
With that being said, if you live in India and have a Nokia 8110 4G which is working on JioReliance network, you should be able to install Whatsapp. However, that can’t happen as estimated. That means that only when KaiOS sets up the app for the global release owners of 8110 4G will be able to use Whatsapp.
The global support for Whatsapp would be a great advantage for KaiOS and also for Nokia as their sales of the 8110 4G phones will grow. This sounds all milk and honey, but there were still no clues about this happening any time soon. The fact is that it is not easy to do this globally, but we are sure that the companies will find the best method for Whatsapp support to be implemented for the banana phones as well.
What do you think about this? Are you tired of hearing Whatsapp making promises, but not keeping them? Or do you understand their decision and unknown reasons not to offer support for 8110 4G yet?
Hopefully, this will change in the near future, and the promise will be kept.
