Surface Pro 4 Firmware Updates Available with Biometric Improvements
The Surface Pro 4 recently received a few firmware updates, but unfortunately, Microsoft didn’t provide any data about them at the moment, but now things have changed. The Surface Pro 4 update history website has eventually been updated, and it provides information about these new firmware updates for the Surface Pro 4. Check out the details below:
Firmware updates included in the September release
- Surface Biometric 2.2.11.0. Surface Fingerprint Sensor: the Biometric device 2.2.11.0 provides support for the Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface HID 1.0.173.1. Surface PTP Filter: HID 1.0.173.1 offers support for the Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface HID 1.0.2.0. Surface Pro Type Cover Integration: HID 1.0.2.0 provides support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
- Surface System 3.0.0.0. Surface Smart Cover Backlight: System device 3.0.0.0 offers support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
These updates are delivered to the Surface Pro 4 devices that are running on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607 or later version, and that attach the new Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
You should remember that if you decide to update the operating system on your Surface device, this will remove your existing update history. Firmware updates cannot be uninstalled, and they cannot be reverted to a previous version either.
When the Surface updates are offered via the Windows Update service, they will be delivered in stages to Surface users. This means that not all Surface customers will get the update at the same time, but it will definitely be provided to all of them. In case you didn’t get the update, you can also manually check Windows Update.
