Samsung has announced an Unpacked launch event for the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition

Almost all the rumors about Samsung devices lately seem to be confirmed one by one. After the Note20 and Galaxy Z Flold2, the company will hold another Unpacked presentation event, during which the much-rumored Galaxy S20 Fan Edition smartphone is expected. At least that’s what the name of the event suggests: “Galaxy Unpacked for Every Fan”. Fortunately, we will not have to wait very long, the event being scheduled for next week.

Galaxy S20 Fan Edition receives its own Unpacked presentation event

The new Unpacked event for S20 Fan Edition will take place on Wednesday, September 23, starting with 17:00 Romania. Here is the official announcement for the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, the model that will keep many of the advantages of the original device, but which will make small compromises on certain key chapters, in order to be offered at a lower price.

In fact, this model could be a more attractive choice both compared to the original S20 model, even at a discount, and compared to the basic Galaxy Note20 model, recently launched. The reason is that it is rumored that the 5G version will be delivered with a FullHD + screen at 120 Hz, compared to the 60 on the Note20, while the chipset, even in Europe will be Snapdragon 865. The 4G model would could be delivered instead with the Exynos 990 chipset, at a lower price.

The main compromise seems to be the screen, which is completely flat and the construction on the back, which is plastic. Otherwise, the phone should offer almost all the advantages of Samsung’s flagship series, including water and dust resistance and wireless charging.

This is not the first Fan Edition model from Samsung

The name Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is inspired by the Galaxy Note Fan Edition model, which a few years ago was the only variant of the Galaxy Note7 that was offered for sale after the original model was withdrawn from sale. It was developed using the same components and the same housing, but with a significantly smaller battery, to eliminate the risk of fire.

However, this device seems to be more of a “Lite” version of the Galaxy S20, as was the Galaxy S10 Lite earlier this year. However, given how this name is used for other companies, customers may think that Lite means “less capable”, which would not be true for the S20 Fan Edition. We’ll find out the official details soon.
