Resident Evil 4 Is Getting Adapted For VR, But There Is A Catch!

After the incredible success of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on PSVR, we kept our hopes high for a Resident Evil Village VR announcement.

Though we sadly gave up on that, there is good news in store – A Resident Evil 4 VR announcement will fill that void!

The development will be led by ex-Metroid Prime developers Armature.

The conversion will transfer the franchise’s trademark third-person gameplay to a first-person perspective and will let players control Leon S Kennedy’s impressive arsenal of firearms.

However, there is a catch – The re-release will be exclusive to Oculus Quest 2, as Facebook isn’t going to bring the game to the original Oculus Quest headset or the PC-based Oculus Rift S.

If you wonder what the chances to see as PSVR port, we suggest that you don’t get too excited, as Oculus Studio is involved in the game’s development.

Still, we can’t rule the possibility out entirely, as Capcom loves to flog Resident Evil 4 wherever they can, and it would make sense to port it to other platforms too.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Sony purchased exclusivity for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’s virtual reality mode, as it wasn’t released on other platforms.

Still, considering how iconic the game is, it would be nice to experience it from another perspective, so let’s hope PlayStation will be talking to Capcom to convince them to port the title once the Oculus deal expires.

It’s becoming a trend to port old, popular games to VR platforms, which is undoubtedly a very welcome sight. It’s like re-visiting the memories you are fond of, but in another perspective, with extra immersion.
