Moto Z2 Force vs. Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus – Best Improvements Comparison

Motorola used to be one of the reigning companies in the mobile phone game back in the late 90s and early 00s, when owning such a device was just becoming popular. The company has been in it to win it from the start. They were making brick phones when brick phones were the latest tech, then they basically revolutionized the flip phone. If you’re thinking of a particular flip phone model right now, it was probably one by Motorola (hint hint: if you’re a girl, it’ the pink one for sure that’s on your mind).

But when smartphones started taking over, Motorola was clearly distressed at first. This happened to many companies that used to produce regular mobile phones before the entire smartphone thing became a thing. But then Motorola went on to be bought by Lenovo, they finally came back in the game. Although smartphones are generally considered phones with an incorporated touch screen, the more adequate way to take this is to use the denomination for phone running an operating system on them. So we’ll just consider it like that.

Anyway, Motorola have been making smartphones of all types from there on out, and the latest release is the Moto Z2 Force, a really powerful device with some state of the art hardware that powers it. The Moto Z2 Force is so powerful that it’s actually compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. But does the comparison hold? Let’s find out.

Design and Display

The Moto Z2 Force is definitely smaller and more gracious, with its 5.5-inch screen, which seems tiny when put next to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus’ gigantic 6.2-inch one. But if a big phone is what you’re after, then certainly the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is much more fitting for you. And as far as design is concerned, both phones look great with their two different aesthetic approaches.

The Moto Z2 Force has a Quad HD Super AMOLED P-OLED touchscreen display with an amazing resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and a pixel density of 538ppi. On the flipside, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has a slightly bigger 1440×2960 resolution because of its huge screen, but a lower pixel density of just 529ppi.

Specs and Hardware

Both phones come with Android Nougat out of the box, although the newer Moto Z2 Force has the newer 7.1.1 version of it, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has the standard 7.0. Both phones come with 4GB of RAM, but the Moto Z2 Force also offers the 6GB variant outside the US. And both phones also come with 64GB of internal storage in the US and 128GB everywhere else, with added SD-support.

The similarities continue. Both phones run on the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. While it’s true that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus were the first to sport it, the Moto Z2 Force makes as good use of it as any other phone that uses it (and there are a lot of recent launches that do).

Camera

The Moto Z2 Force comes with a state of the art 12MP dual rear camera, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has just a single one. But the Galaxy does have the better front camera, with a quality of 8MP that knocks the Moto Z2 Force’s 5MP out of the park on any given day. Still, the difference is really small unless you’re a selfie enthusiast.

So are the two phones the same phone under different names? Well, yes and no. if you own the Galaxy, there is no point to get the Moto Z2 Force, but if you don’t you could consider this as an option.
