Huawei launched this year the MatePad Pro tablet, equipped with hardware similar to that of its top smartphones. However, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer is also preparing a cheaper version for the current generation, which will replace the MatePad M6. The new tablet seems to be simply called MatePad 10.8 and according to a listing on the Chinese store JD.com.
MatePad 10.8 could be a cheaper alternative to MatePad Pro
In fact, the listing suggests that the tablet is very similar in terms of capabilities to MatePad Pro, the differences between them being rather in terms of design. The new MatePad 10.8 will be delivered with the same Kirin 990 chipset, which is also found on the Mate 30 and P40 smartphone models. The screen is also 10.8 “, as in the case of the Pro version, but the edges around it are thicker and do not include a camera” cut “in the AMOLED panel. In fact, the resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels (16:10 format) is similar to that of the Pro model.
Other similar features would be compatibility with an M-Pen stylus, but the latter does not appear to be magnetic, with wireless charging. Also, the battery will be the same 7,500 mAh as on the previous generation, MatePad M6.
It seems to include all the advantages of the top model
The new tablet will use the WiFi6 + connectivity standard, developed by Huawei, which should offer even higher speeds than the standard WiFi 6 (802.11ax). The tablet will integrate NFC, probably especially for Huawei Share functionality and seems to be equipped with a keyboard, which will most likely be optional.
