Mastering Google Chrome With These 3 Tips
Google Chrome is perhaps the most popular browser worldwide. Everybody knows how to use it, but not everybody knows there are some hidden shortcuts for this browser. Here you have a brief list of tips and tricks for mastering Google Chrome:
- Update the Browser
Many people choose to keep tabs open and so they end up not closing Chrome for quite a while. It is important to close it from time to time so that you can see the updates provided by the developer. When there’s an update available for your browser, you can see the menu button (which is the three vertical dots placed on the right of the address bar) turning yellow and then red. If you want to manually check for an update, simply type chrome://help and follow the instructions.
- Clean Up Unnecessary Extensions
Type in chrome://extensions in the address bar and then disable any extensions you don’t want to use anymore. You can also temporarily disable it if you want to, by unchecking the box, or delete it for good by clicking the trash icon. Keep in mind that if you delete an extension, you will lose the data the was associated with it. Meanwhile, this will not take place if you only disable it.
- Use a Smoother Scroll
If you type chrome://flags in the address bar, you will find Enable fast tab/windows close. Not many people know about this option, but it is particularly useful for speeding up the browser. Basically, it lets it close the windows without any JavaScript code that is currently running. Remember to click on Relaunch Now at the bottom of the screen for the change to come into effect.
Of course, these aren’t all the tips and tricks you will find for Chrome, but they are definitely some of the most useful.
