The Gmail SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) server settings are necessary if you opt to send emails from your Gmail with the help of an email software program.
However, SMTP doesn’t use the same settings for each email provider, even if this is a requirement for all email clients. You can use specific details in order to set the SMTP up for Gmail.
Take note that on top of the email server settings, it is important to note that you need to allow the email download/ receive mail from the Gmail account as well. Here are different default SMTP settings.
The default IMAP and POP3 Gmail settings are necessary to download/ receive mail. The servers for IMAP and POP3 are required to do this process. It is possible to enable the access type via the settings you apply for Gmail. Just go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP screen.
Possible Implications for the Free SMTP Server
If you own a small business or company with low volume on email service, the free SMTP server from Google should be a great solution. This will be useful to relay your email via Gmail.
However, it is important to note that even with the free service, it still has some limitations. Google even reveals that only 100 emails are allowed to be relayed via their SMTP servers. Nevertheless, they still count to 3,000 emails each month for free. A third-party email service can be used if your emails exceed the 5,000 mark.
