Let’s face it, we’re all more than familiar with the drama that ensues due to a poorly though out text or email being sent out. And who here hasn’t wished that taking back messages would be a possibility? I know I have, for like a thousand times at least. Well, in this tech-savvy day and age, apps and services keep surprising us with new features that make our daily lives easier. And yet, no one seems to have thought of a feature that lets you take back emails. Or that’s what most people think.
However, Gmail has a cool and hidden feature that allows you to do just that. All you have to do is activate it and then set it up, so keep reading to find out how to do that. Needless to say, if you’re currently using a different email service, switch to Gmail now to get this cool new benefit.
Activate Undo Send Feature on Gmail
In order to be able to unsend emails on Gmail, you will need to activate the adjacent feature for that. It is called ‘undo send’ and you can find it in your Gmail Settings menu. Under General Settings, look for the Undo Send section and tick the box in order to enable it. Then, set a cancellation period. The suggested one is 10 seconds, but you can tailor this according to what you know would suit you.
But beware, you can’t set the period for 2 days. So if you have second thoughts about an email days later, this won’t help you. But if you send something out and it has a typo in it which you notice right away, or any other flaw for that matter, then this feature will come in handy to you.
