Leaked photos of a new Windows device have emerged recently, but you should not get excited. The Microsoft Surface Mini will never be available because Microsoft decided to give up on this product. The company still has other Surface products to focus on, such as the new Surface Laptop and the all-in-one PC named Surface Studio. The leaked pictures appeared on Twitter, and they were posted by Evan Blass, a renowned phone leaker and blogger. He also published the device's specs. Microsoft Surface Mini Specifications According to Evan Blass, Surface Mini was going to have a 1440 x 1080 display, 32 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The tablet would have also run Windows RT and it was designed to support the Surface Pen. How was it supposed to look? The leaked pictures reveal that Surface Mini would have been a 7.5-inch tablet and it would have been available in more colors: red, black and blue The tablet looks a lot like a notepad and in the images it also comes with a kickstand and a red rubber case. Why wasn't it released? It is not hard to understand why Microsoft decided to cancel the Surface Mini. Nowadays, mini tablets are not popular anymore and the market is friendlier with phablets. Users won't buy small tablets anymore since new smartphones already have big screens and various features. The company was planning to announce this mini tablet back in 2014 and it seems that Microsoft was planning to rival Apple's Mini iPad. Since Microsoft canceled the Surface Mini, perhaps we can expect another tablet from this company sometime soon. After all, Microsoft wouldn't abandon a project unless they have something better on the way.
